How to Set Goals - 4 Tips to Make Them Happen
It's easy to set goals - but it's not very easy to accomplish them.
And that's because we often set our goals too high - or were not sure how to achieve them.
So that's why it's important to set goals that are achievable.
Here are four tips for successful goal development:
Make Your Goals Specific
It's important to create goals that are clearly defined. In fact, the trick to make your goals happen is to get ultra-specific. Instead of saying "I will read my textbook every night," say that you will read a specific number of pages every night. The more specific you can get, the more likely you'll be able to focus on accomplishing your goals.
Measure Your Goals
One way to motivate yourself to accomplish your goals is to make your goal measurable. It will help you track how far along you are along in achieving your tasks. And that's another reason why you want a specific goal - because it's much more measurable.
Create a Realistic Goal
If you set an unrealistic goal for yourself, you'll probably fail. If you set a goal to have the endurance to run a marathon in one week, you'll probably be unable to do it. And it's simply because your body needs time to condition itself to run that long. The same is with every other goal for yourself. Make a goal that is workable - but also something that is going to stretch yourself to achieve it.
Stay Flexible in Your Goal Setting
Look, nobody is perfect. And it's easy to fall behind in achieving all our goals. That's why you need to be flexible with yourself and realize that it's okay to fail. You might get terribly sick, or there might be a major change happening in your life or family. That's okay. That's life. You just need to be flexible with your goals and adjust when these things happen.
By setting goals based on the tips mentioned above, you'll be far more successful in accomplishing them.
