Why Studying On Your Computer Can Make You Less Productive

Using a computer while studying can help you study smarter. You can research faster, write faster, and accomplish many tasks at one time.

However, computers can also be one of the worst distractions too.

In fact, some students shouldn’t be near a computer when studying because of their addiction to check email or visit their favorite websites.

You see, while the computer has many benefits for studying – it can also be the biggest drain on your productivity.

And check this out:

The Internet/Computer Addiction Services in Redmond, Washington, estimates that 6 to 10 percent of the 189 million Internet users in the United States have a technology addiction that can be as destructive as alcoholism and drug addiction. Among some of the detrimental effects, technology addiction can lead to withdrawal from social interactions, neglect in relationships, difficulty sleeping, and it can interfere in your job productivity and accomplishing your personal goals.

As you can see, technology can be very destructive. So it’s very important to think twice before studying on a computer. Is a computer essential to your assignment? Will the computer make you productive? Will you be able to refrain from checking email or visiting other sites?

If you can stay productive on your computer, then please use one.  Just make sure to stay on task and avoid any websites that aren't helpful to your assignments.
