We are excited to introduce a new online service to our students called OptimalResume – a comprehensive, web-based application that allows students to easily create, present and manage their resumes.
In addition, the program offers a suite of educational tools that will allow students to write cover letters, prepare for interviews and even build a personal website to show-off their skills.
To use OptimalResume, students create a profile page by providing basic contact and educational information, such as address, phone, email, degree and GPA data. Students then have access to OptimalResume’s "Document Center," which allows them to: prepare resumes, cover letters and a web page. The "Skills Center" helps students prepare for interviews, and an online Calendar to help them meet application deadlines and schedule interviews.
Each of the sections allows students to create and name new documents, input information about their work history, and edit the style of the document to their preferences. They then have the option of generating professional resumes or cover letters in four formats: Rich Text, Plain Text, PDF, and HTML. Students can create up to five unique resumes through the application.
One of the most exciting parts of OptimalResume is its interview section. We know that many of our students are nervous about interviewing (aren't we all!), and we want to ensure they feel comfortable with the process. OptimalResume offers students the opportunity to experience real-life multi-media interview scenarios. In the 'Skills Center' students can select from a variety of interviewer profiles or lines of questioning developed by seasoned employment professionals. Audio and video responses are recorded, allowing students to watch themselves and perfect their interview techniques.
To help students discover more about the options OptimalResume offers, the site has step-by-step videos and PDF documents available for download that will walk them through the process of creating a new resume, cover letter or website, or perfecting their interview techniques.
We are confident that OptimalResume will not only help our students build their best resume, but will also save them significant time and help them create an online marketing presentation of their skills and abilities. By making the job application process easier, we hope to give our graduates a head start in their career search.
