How to Overcome Test Anxiety - 5 Surefire Ways

It's easy to get stressed out about an exam.

Here are 5 tips on how to reduce your test stress:

1. Take your time.
Don't worry about other students finishing their exam before you. Take your time, and plan on being the last one finished. Use any extra time to review your answers and to make sure you wrote the correct response.

2. Take some deep breaths.
The moment you get your test - don't start it. Just let take a few moments to take some deep breaths. Close your eyes and visualize yourself being relaxed and happy. When you open your eyes, take another deep breath. You'll feel much more relaxed about the test.

3. Think positively.
Keep a positive perspective on your test. Think about doing extremely well, and how good you're going to feel when the test is over.

4. Answer what you know as you scan through the test.
Go through the entire test answering the questions you know right away.  This helps you build confidence as you're answering a variety of questions quickly.  Then you can go back and focus on the more difficult questions with enough time on the clock.

5. Don't pay attention to other students.
Block out whatever other students in the classroom are doing.  Just don't pay attention to them.  Focus on your breathing and on the test in front of you.

By following these simple steps, you can help reduce your test anxiety.
