5 Ways College is Different Than High School

Going to college is a lot different than high school.You see, in high school you might have been pressured by teachers to study. Well, in college you’re not going to get in trouble for not finishing your homework.You must be motivated to study. It’s all on you.Here are five ways you should expect college to be different than high school:1. More ResponsibilityIn high school, you were constantly told to do homework and study for tests. Well, in college you’re on your own. You have to study because you want to earn your college diploma o rdegree.2. Class StructureIn high school, you had class everyday – and were probably in class from 9 to 3 p.m. Well, college is much different. Your classes will probably only meet two or three days a week for several hours. So you’ll spend less time in the classroom, but more time studying in the library or at home.3. Longer ClassesIn high school, you typically had classes that only met an hour per day. In college, classes can easily be 2 hours at a time. This means you’ll probably have twice as much home work for ever class period.4. More Free TimeSince most college students only take two or three classes a day – that means you’ll have much more free time. And you can either use this time to study and/or work. Most students today end up working to help pay the bills, but you should also find plenty of time to study.5. More HomeworkEven though you have less class time, you’ll probably have to study much more than you did in high school. You’ll have more writing and reading assignments – and more homework.As you can see, college is a serious commitment - but it's a commitment that is extremely rewarding.The education you'll receive, and the friendships you'll make with teachers and students will last you a lifetime.
