Everest (Portland) student ambassadors -- along with their faculty and staff -- served dinner to needy recipients at the Blanchett House, a work-based recovery program for men with no incomes.
Ambassador Marlo Waters took the lead, contacting the Blanchett House, offering Everest – Portland volunteers to help serve dinner for their program members.
The facility serves approximately 900 meals a day, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, 6 days a week. Mario worked closely with the Blanchett House, the ambassadors, faculty and advisors in planning the event to ensure a well-run and successful volunteer experience.
Once there, the Everest – Portland volunteers divided up the work, with some dishing up food in the kitchen, while other served the patrons in the dining area.
Campus President, Mickey Sieracki was enthusiastic about the event, saying: “It was a great way for us to get out in the community and work together to make a difference. We plan to continue volunteering as a group. Marlo has agreed to take the lead finding opportunities and coordinating the events.”
