Finding an air conditioning unit for your home is challenge enough when, and can really be a hair-pulling experience if you no idea at all what to look for.
Here are a couple of things you should keep in mind
1. The size of the room is important
If the room is large, you’re going to need an air conditioning unit that can pump out the BTU’s. A smaller unit will work fine if the room is small. Think in terms of finding a unit that is energy efficient and cost effective. You might find yourself spending a little extra money for this kind of unit, but in the long run, an energy efficient AC unit uses less electricity and saves you money.
2. Decide if your home needs central or single room cooling
If your home is large, a central air conditioning unit might be the most suitable option. This type of system will allow you to cool your home all at once, as opposed to just one room at a time. Window units work fine in smaller homes or small apartments. Portable AC units are great if you’re just interested if you’re moving from room to room. And, with a portable unit, the installation won’t be complicated.
Keep in mind that you’ll be looking the fit that serves to make your home comfortable. If the unit is too large you choose to install, the short “run time” may not dehumidify your home properly. A big AC unit will cool a room quickly, which can signal the thermostat to cycle off before a room’s humidity can be adequately removed.
