Dental Assisting Program Launches At Everest College – Colorado Springs

New Program Meets Rising Community Need For Dental Assistant Jobs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 4, 2009) - Dental assistants are expected to be among the fastest growing occupations through 2016, according to projections by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics*. Everest College is helping meet the growing need for dental assistants through its recently launched Dental Assisting Diploma program at its Colorado Springs Campus.

The eight-month dental assisting program centers on hands-on training in the areas of dental office emergencies, dental radiography, dental specialties, operatory dentistry, laboratory procedures, dental anatomy and orthodontics. The course, which emphasizes instruction and practical applications of dental technology, also includes a dental assisting externship.

"It's important to prepare our graduates for the careers that are most in demand," says Dr. Jim Hadley, Colorado Springs campus president. "And dental assistants are one of those careers that can really benefit a community and answer a need that exists within the job market."

Everest's Career Services team is dedicated to placing students upon graduation. Everest is owned by Corinthian Colleges, Inc., which had a job placement rate of 78.1 percent in 2008 among its North American campuses. In that year, approximately 30,885 students entered the workforce with degrees or diplomas in essential industries.
