Everest College Awards Dallas Servicewoman

As a woman dedicated to both national and community service, Dallas resident Sharon Pilot, 44, has been given this year's Dream Award by Everest College's Dallas campus. The Dream Award recognizes graduates who have achieved academic excellence while overcoming extraordinary challenges.

Sharon, a single mother, is an automated logistical specialist with the U.S. Army. Holding the rank of sergeant, she has completed one tour of duty in Afghanistan and is currently awaiting deployment for her second. Between tours, she managed to earn an associate degree in Criminal Justice at Everest College's Dallas campus. She also volunteers with the Texas Youth Commission.

"We are proud of Sharon for not only her achievement in the classroom, but for the role she plays in protecting our freedom," said Chris Peters, president of Everest's Dallas campus. "We know she will be successful wherever she goes. I could not think of a more deserving student for this award."

The Dream Award gives Pilot a $2,500 Everest College scholarship to pursue advanced education in her chosen field of study.
