How to Manage Stress – Pursue a Balanced Life

While stress is an everyday part of life, too much stress can be unhealthy if it remains out of balance with other things in life that help make us feel relaxed and restful.

On the other hand, minimal amounts of stress can actually help you raise your performance levels.

If you allow too much stress to build up, it may lead to anxiety or a feeling of depression over time. Therefore, it’s important for you to learn how to manage your emotions to maintain your well-being and overall health. Always seek to keep your emotions and stress levels in balance. And what may be a good balance for you may be different for someone else.

Here are several tips on how to manage stress and maintain a balanced life.

  1. Never take on more than you can handle. If your job workload, family life or other responsibilities are maxed out, carefully consider easing your burden. Can family members help with a task? Are friends taking up too much of your time? Or, are you trying to get too many things done in too short an amount of time?
  2. Take good care of your physical needs. Eat health foods such as fruits, vegetables and foods that contain plenty of fiber, like almonds and apples. Exercise at least three times a week for 10 to 20 minutes. Create and maintain an exercise routine for both strength and aerobic training.
  3. Practice relaxation. If you’re not getting eight hours of sleep at night, you could be placing stress on your body without knowing it. Believe it or not, proper breathing habits are just as important and effective in helping you maintain a healthy mind and body.

If you’re attending school, there may be a few stressful days that you’ll experience on occasion. Relax, take a deep breath and think about pleasant things and what your education means to you and those you love.
