There’s a big demand for paralegals in Florida. How big? According to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation (FAWI), positions for paralegals and legal assistants is projected to increase 31 percent between 2010 and 2020, with more than 1,000 new positions opening statewide. This compares to the 18 percent increase in paralegal jobs nationwide forecast by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) during this same 10-year period.
In the Orlando area, paralegal positions should increase about 28 percent by the end of the current decade, according to FAWI. Law firms, state agencies and corporate offices will need to fill more than 100 new paralegal jobs every year between now and 2020.
